About
Peter Rosher is an international arbitration lawyer who brings decades of deep experience in the construction, energy and infrastructure sectors to serve as a full-time independent arbitrator, based in Paris.
Until December 2025, Peter practiced for more than 35 years at major US and UK law firms in London and Paris, culminating in his role as Global Chair of the International Arbitration group at Reed Smith LLP.
He has acted as counsel in both institutional and ad hoc proceedings, subject to many different systems of law and under various arbitral rules, including ICC, LCIA, SCC, SIAC, ICSID and UNCITRAL. To the extent possible in large law firms, Peter has also served as presiding, party nominated and sole arbitrator in disputes arising out of complex construction projects. By now operating in a small structure, the conflicts of interests that are so prevalent in large firms for arbitrators can be avoided.
Dual qualified to practice in England and Wales and France, Peter has extensive experience in both civil and common law jurisdictions, under a wide variety of laws and cultures, with a particular focus on Africa (both North and sub-saharan), the Middle East, Asia and Eastern and Continental Europe.
Peter is fluent in English and French and is able to handle complex arbitrations in either language.
Peter’s practice encompasses the full spectrum of claims arising out of complex construction and infrastructure projects, including nuclear facilities, roads, railways, oil and gas, power plants, petrochemical, mining, hydroelectric, water treatment and data centres. He has extensive experience with all major forms of international construction contracts (especially FIDIC, NEC, ENAA). Over many years, Peter has acquired a detailed knowledge of the construction industry and construction projects. He has extensive experience in pre-arbitration negotiations and dispute board proceedings, particularly under FIDIC and NEC contracts. Peter knows that no construction projects or disputes are identical. He is intimately familiar with managing technically complex, fact and document intensive construction arbitrations effectively and expeditiously.
Peter is recognised in leading legal directories both as a leading international arbitration practitioner and as a specialist and thought leader in the fields of construction, energy and infrastructure by all the major legal directories. He is a former President of the French chapter of the Society of Construction Law, holds a post-graduate degree in Construction Law and Dispute Resolution from King’s College, London and is a visiting lecturer in construction law and international arbitration at Paris-Pantheon-Assas, Sciences Po and Montpellier Universities. He is on the Faculty for GAR Construction and Advocacy and for ROAP, has co-chaired GAR Live Construction for 8 consecutive years and he regularly speaks at international conferences and contributes to legal and industry journals/commentaries.
Peter holds British and Irish nationality. He has been based in Paris since 1993.
